WHO IS KIERAN SATCHELL?

I am a graduate palaeontologist with a passion for science communication, which is why I identify better as a palaeontological science communicator.

I have always found myself enjoying giving presentations and talks. During my years at university, contrary to how many of my peers felt about public speaking, I took great pleasure in presenting. It made me realise the importance of not just being a good scientist but also being able to convey your findings to members of the public of all ages and in a variety of forms.

Extensive research, mathematics and extensive equations was never my strong point, this helped me realise that perhaps the life of a research paleontologist was likely not the right path for me. However, when I realised I could combine my strength of public speaking with my passion for paleontology, I discovered an entirely new avenue I could peruse.

Since then, I have been going above and beyond to gain experience in this particular sector of palaeontology and have found myself as a volunteer for the Jurassic Coast Trust, a charity focused on the preservation of the renown world heritage site; the Jurassic Coast.

Although the Trust's main focus is not palaeontology, they acknowledge the significance and importance of such and therefore, I have been able to use my position as a JCT ambassador to share my love for paleontology with not only my own audience, but their audience as well.
